Module Information and Requirements

The RhinoOMS Observations modules allow users to submit and validate rhino observation events.

Specifically, the Bulk submission tab in the Notching/Submit module allows users to submit rhino notchings in bulk by uploading a comma-delimited file (.CSV) containing multiple notching events.

Specific notching information needs to be provided- the same information that would be provided in the Submit a notching event tab.

To proceed, please ensure you have the following:

  • Stable internet connection
  • S3 and Redshift/Database credentials
  • .CSV file containing information from the notching events

Step-by-Step Guidelines

Step 1

Prepare the bulk submission .CSV file. Notching events should be listed in the rows, with column headers matching a prescribed list of attributes exactly.

It is important that the column headers (attributes) and format of data match exactly to the information below.

The following is a list of required attributes per event, and the necessary format. Attributes with prescribed options are separated by | - choose only one. For an explanation of attributes, please see the Submit a notching event Click for Help file.

Step 2

Within the app, browse to the comma-delimited file (.CSV) to load it in.

Step 3

Click “Verify Data” to check that the uploaded .CSV file includes all the necessary information and confirms to the system’s requirements.

Within the Verification Pop-up, you will verify the upload and submit the events to the online database.

! Note:

The web-based version of RhinoOMS does not currently allow for the bulk submission/upload of images- only tabulated data. This feature may be added during future development of the application.

Currently, images corresponding to data that were bulk submitted/uploaded need to be added through the “Upload missing evidence” button in the Validate module.
